SHARE A LIFE Project assists second generation beneficiaries
The original recipients of project benefits in Barangay Bonifacio, Lope De Vega successfully passed on the gifts to 39 poorest families in Barangay Getigo following the Passing On The Gifts scheme being popularized by Trowel Development Foundation through its SHARE A LIFE project. The gifts consisted of piglets, chicks, vegetable seeds, farm tools, and knowledge sharing in organic farming and animal health management, among others.
The Passing on the Gifts scheme requires the original beneficiaries of financial, material, and technical assistance to pass the same amount of support to their chosen pass-on families during the Passing on the Gifts ceremony. In Barangay Bonifacio, the POG ceremony was witnessed and participated in by all students and teachers of Barangay Bonifacio Elementary School, Office of the Municipal Mayor of Lope De Vega, employees of the Municipal Agriculture Office, barangay officials, professors of the University of Eastern Philippines College of Veterinary Medicine, and barangay residents
The original recipients composed of 40 poorest families in the barangay received a carabao each, two piglets, ten chickens, assorted vegetable seeds and planting materials, different farm tools and implements. They also attended several training courses that included biointensive gardening, animal health management, and family nutrition among others.
The SHARE A LIFE project assists the poorest families in select communities so that they become productive and can make changes in their lives through values – centered projects, increase their income and farm produce in a sustainable manner and live in a healthier environment.
