Trowel, Gilbuela and Associates, University of Eastern Philippines College of Engineering and the provincial federation of coconut farmers cooperative in Northern Samar jointly implemented the project to provide an additional source of income for smallholder coconut planters. The project also intends to contribute to the reduction of emission of greenhouse gasses by promoting bioethanol as an alternative to fossil fuel.The project is about the sequential gathering of coconut sap and its conversion without waste into three major products, namely: high-grade bioethanol as biofuel, low-grade bioethanol as an additive for the fruit drink, and organic coco-vinegar.
