Distribution of Farm Tools
Animal Management Training A two-day training on improving animal management is conducted to equip the target participating families with knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for the successful caring and management of livestock and poultry animals Carabao and pigs distributed to the original participating families
Family Health and Nutrition Training A two-day training equips the participating families with knowledge, skills, and attitudes on the fundaments of nutrition planning. The topics included causes of and methods of preventing malnutrition, recommended dietary allowances or RDAs, and food budgeting among others Converting idle hilly land into herbal garden
Organic Corn Farming and Bio-intensive Gardening (BIG) A three-day training equips the participating families with knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for organic corn production and vegetable gardening through the bio-intensive methods and practices. BIG is a system of gardening that focuses on achieving maximum yields from a minimum area of land, while simultaneously increasing biodiversity and sustaining the fertility of the soil. The goal of the method is long term sustainability on a closed system basis. BIG involves eight principles namely: deep soil preparation; composting; intensive planting; carbon farming; calorie farming; companion planting; open pollinated seeds; and whole system method. Leadership Training for Pass-on Families of Barangay Getigo A three-day training workshop that aims to enhance the leadership skills and knowledge of SHG leaders and to know and understand their roles and responsibilities in the implementation of the project. Topics include basic leadership functions, roles, and responsibilities of a group leader and members of the organization as applied to project implementation, group dynamics, management principles and strengthening the group as a team.
Co-learning and co-mentoring among members of Self-Help Groups The study tour enhances the knowledge and skills of target participating families. Their learnings gained during the exchange of knowledge, skills, and experiences improves their capacity to implement their projects and serves as a guide to their next activities. Study tour sites were identified based on the identified needs of the participating families.
