Restoration of denuded mangrove areas and idle and unproductive fishponds was successfully carried out through direct seeding of propagules in sites inundated by normal tidal flow and transplanting of collected wildlings and seedlings raised through the bamboo potting technique in low-lying and continuously submerged areas. The project also protected some 1000 hectares of existing mangrove forests. To sustain protection of the mangroves, Trowel encouraged the members of the local organizations to strictly enforce their municipal fishery ordinance that bans illegal cutting of mangrove trees.
